The best soundtracks ever made are from the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games. The skating culture has blended rap, rock, hip-hop and reggae to give kids something to skate to and the music itself is breeding a culture. The Dread is a group out of the East Coast hip-hop and rock genre heavily geared toward the skating culture and the music it has helped create.
Songs like “SATS” and “The Movement” begin with rock riffs. These little bridges are played throughout the songs, almost like a sample, but are backed with lyrics that have a beat all to their own. With songs like “The Jungle,” The Dread pulls off a rhythm. The rhymes have that movement to keep you going. It’s music you can move to – and think to – which is why it serves as that special boarding music that you’d hear in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. The rock riffs get you pumped and the lyrics have a flow to match. The songs are short and to the point, which will keep even the most A.D.D. listener happy. It doesn’t sound too much like anything that’s out there right now, so get ready to really enjoy some actually new music.
