Winter Skateboarding

Skateboarding in the winter will always be a challenge for Midwest skaters. Braving the cold, long rides to the skate park, picking up the crew, entry fees, gas money, energy drinks, food, etc., two hour car rides for three hours of skating a crowded session hoping to get your monies worth. The longer it takes to get warmed up, the less time you actually have to enjoy skating. Car legs and cold feet don't help. The ride back is always fun (sarcasm). You're thinking about the tricks you landed or should have landed & when you'll be able to skate again. The last step is dropping everyone off at home. Hopefully the crew lives close to each other and the friend that's driving doesn't mind being the chauffeur. Finally, you arrive at home in the same place you started, wanting to skate. Spring is almost here and winter skateboarding will be over for now, but we never forget those snow days & sub-zero temps because that’s just the reality of living in the Midwest.
