The Dread Mission Statement
Our goal is to provide quality entertainment, but also convey introspective thought without sounding preachy. We want the audience to “let go” of their inhibitions, but not feel like they have to let go of their integrity. First & foremost, we are fans of music. The Dread is a Hip Hop group, but our influences span well beyond our genre. “Something Like A Band” isn’t just the name of the Ep, it’s the way we approach the music because some of our biggest influences are outside of the Hip Hop realm. We make original songs that are classified as “Alternative/Hip Hop” & remixes of our favorite classics that we classify as “Hip/Rock or Skate/Hop”. The name “Grateful Dread” (or “The Dread” for short) was chosen because we felt it embodied our vast musical taste. Tour like the Grateful Dead, rock like Bad Brains, unique like P-Funk & The Red Hot Chili Peppers, good vibes like the Wailers, etc. The Dread experience is that of the last 50 years of music. Not your traditional band, but very well could be one of your favorites.
